The modem I replaced was old and slow; I researched modems; this one worked with my internet provider and got good reviews. In fact, I replaced the modem and router at the same time -- both with D-Link products. Had to call D-Link customer service with a few questions (Time Warner Cable was worthless) and the gal I spoke with walked me thru the setup of both products (a HUGE help!) without rushing me off the phone. Would buy this again; my internet is much faster now. December 7, 2015
